A Look Back at the Rare Oddity that was the Sega Mega Jet

$

0

Back in 1993 Sega released a handheld version of its Sega Mega Drive System (aka the Sega Genesis in North America), called the Sega Mega Jet. The Sega Mega Jet was rented out aboard Japan Airlines to be used as in-flight entertainment. But without a built in screen the Sega Mega Jet needed to be connected to an an auxiliary monitor.

In the case of Japan Airlines the Sega Mega Jet was connected to a TV mounted on the armrest in their planes. Players could then insert any Sega Mega Drive cartridges into the back of the Sega Mega Jet unit. The unit had a front interface that nearly mirrored the configuration of the Sega Mega Drive controller, complete with a directional pad on the left and a six button layout on the right. The bottom of the Sega Mega Jet unit also had a port to connect a second controller for multiplayer games. A consumer version of the Sega Mega Jet was released in 1994 but still lacked a built in screen.

Eventually the Sega Mega Jet was made into its own outright portable handheld Sega device and became the basis for the Sega Nomad which was released in 1995. Just as the 16-bit Sega Mega Drive was the successor to the 8-bit Sega Master System the Nomad was the successor to the Sega Game Gear. So in turn the Nomad's graphical capabilities were on par with the 16-bit Mega Drive, while the Game Gear was essentially a portable Sega Master System.

For collectors of rare video came console units or vintage Sega merchandise the Sega Mega Jet portable video game console is not only a hard find but a sought after piece of videogame history. Outside of the United States it is very unlikely that you'll come across one. On eBay three Sega Mega Jet units have been sold since June. The highest paid auction was an unused, unopened unit from Japan that sold for $399.99. The other two were used and sold by the same seller out of Spain for $234.08. Right now the average asking price on eBay is $327.09 for a used Sega Mega Jet.

Here are some listings currently running on eBay for Sega Mega Jet units and accessories.

Expensive and Rare Sega Genesis Games for 2015

Happy holidays to everyone! Hope you all got through turkey day unscathed! Back in the summer we ran this post for the rarest and most expensive SNES games. Since Christmas is right around the corner, we thought you might need some gift ideas for the gamer and video game collector in your life. I decided to give rare Sega Genesis games the same treatment!

While the list for rare Sega games could easily exceed what we have here, this is just the tip of the iceberg for top Sega Genesis games. If you have some criticism of what Sega Games are listed and what might be excluded I apologize! I remain well aware that games for the Megadrive and titles such as the Genesis Blockbuster World Video Game Championships II cartridge garner a high price tag. But, these games are nearly impossible to find. Here is a list of some rare Sega Genesis games that are reasonably priced and currently available on eBay!

  • Musha - A used untested copy just sold last week for $300, and another CIB sold for $400 a week prior to that! The average price for a CIB currently is $408.68. M.U.S.H.A. is a rare treat for genesis collectors.
  • Crusader of Centy - Back in September this game (without the box/cartridge only) went for $175! Another listing with the box, cartridge, and no manual sold for $237.50 a few days ago. And get this - a NIB listing is currently asking for $15,999.99! The current average value for the cart only is $212.50. Some claim this is one of THE more rare games on the genesis.
  • The Punisher - a CIB listing recently sold for $149.95, but cartridge only listings are selling for anywhere between $45-70. The average going rate for this game CIB is $149.95.
  • Master of Monsters - a CIB fetched $85.00 two months ago. Current average cost is $220.00 although bargains certainly exist.
  • Joshua Battle for Jericho - CIB listings are EXTREMELY hard to find. However, the selling prices are drastically different for carts only. Recently two CIB listings that looked identical sold for $69.99 and $18.00, so you might be able to get lucky and grab this title at a decent price. A NIB listing is currently asking for $300. The average price for the game is $126 but dips down exponentially if you settle for just the cart.
  • Zero the Kamikaze Squirrel - a NIB listing sold for $110 two months ago. Listings that were CIB have sold for anywhere between $67 and $102 in the same time span. Currently a NIB listing is up for $300. Average cost for the game is $85. You can get a solid deal on a cart only listing (around $20ish range).
  • Aerobiz Supersonic - this is another game that is kind of all over the place. Since September a CIB game has gone for $25.27 and $67.81. A NIB listing for this game is incredibly difficult to come by. But, by and large, this game IS NOT rare at all. Just unusually expensive for some reason not known to me.
  • Michael Jackson's Moonwalker - CIB has sold for between $49.00 and $78.80 in recent months. This is another title that will be hard to come by factory sealed. Average price is $41. Like Aerobiz, Moonwalker is not rare at all. Just expensive.
  • John Madden Football '93 Championship Edition - This game was never sold to the public but instead was a video rental store exclusive. Due to the nature of its retail history finding a CIB copy is tough to come by and a NIB is unheard of. In October of this year a CIB sold for $99.99.
  • Action 52 - Quite possibly one of THE WORST GAMES on the Genesis. That doesn't stop collectors though. There is currently a CIB listing for $495.00. Back in September, a sealed copy sold for $132.50 and another sold for $99.99. Average cost is $132.50 for the game.

Guess What Just Popped up On Ebay? Rare Vectorman Video Game Concept Art from Ellis Goodson

Hey, guys. Link here. It's been awhile since I've run a post. I hope everyone here is doing well. Ebay user daesan reached out to us recently about his rare Sega listings. The star of his listings are, of course, these one of a kind Vectorman sketches from the game's original animator, Ellis Goodson.

Goodson sold these Vectorman video game concept art sketches to the ebay user in 2013. You'll see a date of the signature next to the animator's sig. According to the seller, this artwork actually dates back to the mid 90's during the first game's development.

The first sketch has concept designs for Vectorman's helmet.  The second displays an idea for an attack.  The sketches aren't quite mint (as usually happens to these sorts of items). They have minor wrinkles.

You can bid on the sketches here. So far, no bidders and the price is still around $40.

Many people felt that Vectorman was Sega's answer to Nintendo's Donkey Kong Country. The game used state of the art pre-rendered 3D models. In particular, GamePro felt that this game absolutely pushed the limitations of 16 bit games completely over the edge.

*Ed Note 2: Can't Believe I'm typing this but the listing was relisted (AGAIN) at $2,499 here

So a lot of us remember the early days of gaming. If you wanted to try out a game before you blew your allowance buying it, you headed to your local Blockbuster to rent it and play without commitment. You remember Blockbuster, right? The one I went to was a big blue building with the trademark yellow lettering. There would be rows and rows of movies (VHS tapes back then, DVDs later) and eventually they added a section for video games. Your options were limited to Sega Genesis or Super Nintendo. The Blockbuster Video Game section in my store was near the front of the store, tucked in a corner near the register.

In the mid-90s, Blockbuster followed Nintendo’s lead and decided to start a championship tournament for gamers. Thus was born the Blockbuster Video Game Championship. The local competitions took place in the local stores and led up to a state competition. The 1994 competition consisted of one game per week for three weeks. Qualifiers moved on to the national championship. The ’94 championship consisted of Super Streetfighter II for SNES and Virtua Racing for Sega Genesis. The entrants got a whole bunch of swag and stuff from Blockbuster as well as Nintendo and Sega.

The reason I’m bringing all of this up is because I came across this listing on eBay: Blockbu1ster World Video Game Championship 1994 SNES LOT. This guy was his state champ and went onto the Blockbuster Video Game National Championship in 1994. He put up every piece of memorabilia he has, documents, brochures, t-shirts, etc., even his trophy. This would be an interesting collection to have, maybe a little like something you might expect to see in a gaming museum. It’s not cheap, but it is one of a kind for sure.

In honor of this, I'll list additional Sega and NES finds:

Merry Christmas!

Homebrew Tanglewood Release Just Around The Corner

The video game should be released sometime in 2017. If you have been living in the dark and were not aware of the announcement regarding Tanglewood, allow us to fill you in.

Should You Care About Sega Genesis Games and Homebrews?

Tanglewood is an incredible homebrew concept created by Big Evil Corporation. Big Evil made their ‘big’ announcement about this Sega Genesis homebrew just over a year ago.

Retro gamers have been awaiting its release ever since. Why? Because this game will be full of rich, pixelated animations, amazing settings, and so much more.

Set in Tanglewood’s realm, a creature named Nymn accidentally separates from the pack. It’s a scary night for Nymn, as Tanglewood is a very dangerous and terrifying place once night falls. Your job is to help Nymn return home safely by through trickery, your best evasive skills, traps, and more.

“Big Evil made their ‘big’ announcement about this Sega Genesis homebrew just over a year ago.”

In order to get this incredible game out as soon as possible, the company has created a Kickstarter to recruit the best developers, composers, and artists to complete the project. Those who back the video game Kickstarter will get their game cartridge for approximately $50.

Backers will also receive a professional e-book about the creation of the game. The goal of the Kickstarter was to raise somewhere around $59,400 in order to get the game completed in a timely manner. At present, nearly 900 people have backed this incredible video game project and have raised nearly $68,000.

“Those who back the video game Kickstarter will get their game cartridge for approximately $50.”

Clearly, some people are very eager to get their hands on this game. This Sega classic game console homebrew should be released sometime in late 2017 (most likely in the winter). In the meantime, you can download the playable demo of Tanglewood.

An awesome sealed copy of Sonic CD recently popped up on Ebay. Big shout out to our friend Jimmy for bringing this auction to our attention.

Gamers are getting pretty excited about it! Want to find out why? Read on below.

This Sega Mega CD is brand new and still sealed in its original factory plastic. According to the seller, it shows some signs of wear and tear but is in excellent condition otherwise.

Keep in mind that this Sega CD listing is for sale in the UK and you will have to pay import fees for it. At present, it has been bid on 23 times. The current bid is £122!

This game is the first Sonic game of the series to be produced in CD-ROM format. Sonic CD features FMV as well as higher-quality sound. The CD format version was originally developed by SEGA in Japan and released back in 1993. Development and production began in 1991.

It was a huge hit with gamers and critics alike. Many consider this game to be one the best Sega CD game ever released. It is also considered to be one of the best platform games of all time.

If you are unfamiliar with the game, it would be helpful to know a little bit about the series. You play as Sonic the Hedgehog. The goal of the game is to defeat Doctor Robotnik, Sonic’s nemesis.

In order to defeat Doctor Robotnik, you must collect seven Time Stones. As you move through the different zones, you will notice changes in the music, obstacles, graphic displays, and more. Many of these features were thanks to major improvements in memory thanks to the CD format.

According to Rarity Guide.com, Sonic the Hedgehog CD scores a 60% on the rarity level. The average list price for a new in box (NIB) Sonic CD set is around $70, the average list price for a CIB set is $30.00, and the average list price for loose is $12.

Sealed NIB copies of this game are nearly impossible to find these days.

If you want to purchase this Sega Mega CD, you better hurry! The Ebay sale ends soon this weekend.

You’ll also need the SEGA CD add-on if you want to play this game. Check out the listings here

Well, it looks like I’ve dragged myself out of whatever hole I have been hiding in to share a small bit of gaming goodness currently up for grabs on the grand ol site known as ebay! Pardon myself for being a bit rusty, but hopefully you’ll bear with me. I’ve been out of looking for anything interesting for a bit, so lets see what some of my old and outdated searches lead us to!

Behold! That which haunts my dreams at night most recently…these handmade Zelda clay figures are certainly something. The fact that I don’t recognize any of the characters except for the happy mask salesman makes me feel like I’m a bad Zelda fan…

Legend of Zelda LttP Shield Display: With the release of the new 3DS Link game, I would expect to see some high ticket Zelda items raise even a bit higher….it’s a shame there is some noticeable cosmetic damage to this, but these show up so infrequently that you can’t be too picky nowadays!

World of Nintendo Globe Sign: Does anyone else miss the gobs of World of Nintendo signage hanging in retail stores?

Super Mario 3 McDonald’s Store Display

Gameboy Color Ceiling Hanger System Display: I remember seeing these in retail stores and always imagined them landing on my head as I passed through….strangely enough, this never happened.

I love seeing this cart show up.

If you’ve never heard of the game, its kinda rare. As of three years ago, less than five copies have been confirmed to exist, with three of them passing through the hands of our own Nicola. Not sure what the count on them is now. If you have any luck finding one of these in the wild, let me know next time you go to a Casino, as I’d like to tag along on your luck. If you like casino games, we recommend that you visit this website, although it’s in Norwegian

Apparently, in 1995 Blockbuster organized their second Video Game Championship. There were two categories, up to 13 and over 14 years old. You also had to choose to compete on the SNES or Genesis. From June 14th to July 9th there was a Store Championship Competition, then the WVGC-Finals. Each store had to award a Store Champions with a prize of free rentals for the next two years (two games a month).

The best eleven players then won a trip to San Francisco for the final fight in August, inside the GamePro (gaming magazine) HQ.

For SNES, Rare built the well known Donkey Kong Competition Edition cart. For Genesis, Acclaim made this cart. Unlike the DK cart however, this cart could not be won, nor bought. Store owners were ordered to destroy the cart after the competition. Not surprisingly however, that didn’t always happen.

The last copy (that I remember), went for a final price of $2,068.05. Since then there has been others listed, including one for $50,000. Recently ShopGoodwill had one sell in a lot for an absurd amount. However, it appears it ended up unpaid and was relisted on eBay.

Final price ended up at $2,050.00.

Super Fighter Team just announced a new pre-order for two new Sega Genesis titles, Magic Girl and Cascade.

Thank you for your interest in Magic Girl! Magic Girl is a vertical shooter that puts you in the role of a young girl fighting to save her entire planet from certain doom. It is a harsh reality for Ling Ling, whose heart is filled with sorrow over the suffering of her people. But there is no time for tears, as she must rush to avenge the fallen. Only with your careful guidance will she be able to prevail over the enemy and restore her planet to a semblance of its former peace and prosperity. Magic Girl was developed by Gamtec in Taiwan. In addition to translating the game into English, we at Super Fighter Team have also fixed a few bugs that plagued the Chinese original.

Thank you for your interest in Cascade! Cascade is a dice-based puzzler set in outer space, where your skill will be judged by wacky aliens.

This never before seen game will amuse you with its quirky aliens that welcome you with silly spoken lines such as, “Oh no, a human!” and “May the dice be with you.” It also features a competetive two player mode.

Hey! It takes cunning and quick thinking to blast through each successive level of Cascade! Complete all seven levels and you will be welcomed to the planet Cascadia. But what awaits you there: Fame? Fortune? The game’s production credits? Only one way to find out…

Cascade was developed by Epyx, and initially slated for release only in Japan.

Price on each is $40 plus shipping and expected release date is 2015.

Zelda Outlands: The Fan Made Legend of Zelda NES Game

$

I was reading back through older posts on the site and really enjoyed the post about Chrono Trigger Crimson Echoes. I know  many of you guys really enjoyed that post as well. So, I wanted to return to the subject of romhacking (or, more specifically, romhacking vintage video games). I’m not sure if you guys know this, but the original Legend of Zelda NES is one of my all time favorite video games of any era. Heck, my name is Link after all. Naturally, my favorite custom, fan made NES rom has to be Zelda Outlands.

Zelda OutlandsIf you’re unfamiliar with video game hacks or rom hacking, it’s custom content that fans and coders add into rom files or custom game cartridges. Many times, these coders use the game’s original content to build a custom, fan sequel (as is the case with this unofficial Legend of Zelda game, Zelda Outlands). But, some designers use the content to add their own special content into a game while retaining the core components of the source material (such as the custom modded 2015 edition of Tecmo Super Bowl that includes all 32 NFL franchise teams and current players).

Zelda Overlands takes place right where the first two Legend of Zelda NES games end. The Thunderbird survived its battle with Link and is seeking revenge. The Thunderbird steals the Triforce of Power and makes off to Hyrule’s neighbor, the Outlands. This completely new game (well, sort of) spans 18 different dungeons. Zelda even makes a cameo supplying Link with items and game tips.

The best way to look at this game is as a complete face lift or overhaul from the original Legend of Zelda. You face new monsters, a completely new overworld (the developer promises no similarities to the old one), custom graphics, and even bug fixes to the old system. This game is pretty neat. You can really tell just how much love went into making this game. Click here to download this ROM to play on an emulator on your 50″ plasma 🙂 If you’re feeling a bit more ‘retro’ and prefer hardware cartridges to ROM files, you should be able to scoop up the ‘real thing’ on ebay here. I thought it would be fitting to provide you guys with links to some of my other favorite fan made NES game hacks. Enjoy!

  • Tecmo Super Bowl 2015 – Going rate of eBay appears to be right around the $50 mark BIN. Some of you may scoff at the idea of spending so much money on a football game that isn’t called Madden. For others, Tecmo is worth it…
  • Mario Adventure NES – Getting a little harder to find on eBay these days. You can find more info on it here.
  • The S Factor: Sonia and Silver – Couldn’t find on eBay. But, Ali Express seems to have it at the moment. Keep in mind, this is a Genesis cart Nintendo collectors.
  • Castlevania: Chorus of Mysteries – I personally like this version almost as much as the original. This version presents brand new challenges without resorting to cheap difficulty levels

Transformation of Wrestling Games Part 2: the 16 Bit Era

$

The 16-bit era was a strange and confusing time for video game fans of wrestling. Only a hand-full of wrestling video games worth mentioning were released in the US. In fact, some people may argue that WWE video games/WWF games didn’t really come into their own until the following generation. In fact, some of you may be more accustomed with these latter games rather than the ones from this era. Regardless, despite the small number of wrestling games on the SNES and Genesis, what was being offered at this period was definitely high quality. The games were far and away better than any of the games that came before. This second part of our continuing look at the history of wrestling video games will focus on the early 90’s.

Wrestling Games

WWF Super Wrestlemania was one of the first forays into wrestling on the 16-bit consoles

WWF Super Wrestlemania marked the first foray into 16 bit games. The game offered tons of flash and style (for the time, of course). But, the moves were really limited. It was a nice first attempt. But, the game didn’t have much beyond the shallow likeness of the wrestlers’ images. With that being said, SW introduced the tug of war style grappling which the other 16-bit games would use variations of. So, that was pretty cool and innovative I suppose. SNES owners didn’t get the unique finishing moves like the Sega counterpart. However, the SNES version had a larger roster. But, the game was all together mediocre compared to the following games of the era. Things didn’t really heat up until the next game. And, that leads us to…

WWF Royal Rumble serves as an example of one of the best Genesis and SNES wrestling games to leave its mark on the 16-bit era. The controls were tighter and more responsive than any of the other wrestling games for the NES or Sega Master System. The developers knew that they had to make wrestlers move faster and more fluidly in order to appeal to the fans. Everyone was sick and tired of sluggish characters moving on the screen. Royal Rumble brought about a welcome change of fully licensed wrestlers with the individualized moves and appearances of their respective real life counterparts. Check out the video to see just how fluid the movement was for its time.

The game really was impressive. Sculpted Software somehow managed to squeeze 6 wrestlers onscreen at the same time without any noticeable slow down. The number of moves you could pull off per fighter was higher than anything ever seen before. Options were pretty much wide open. Sure, your matches were limited to one-on-one, tag team, triple tag, and Royal Rumble. But, this offered far more options than ever before. I remember being completely blown away playing this game for the first time back in ’93. Never before had wrestling fans seen so much action on the screen at once in a console game. For its time, this was possibly the best wrestling based game to come out in North America.

Graphics for WWF Royal Rumble were top-notch. However, the game strained the 16-bit SNES and Genesis (in all of its blast processing wonder) to their maximum power. The graphics and wrestlers may have looked cartoon-ish. But, I personally see that as part of the whole appeal. 80’s and early 90’s WWF was outlandish and comic book like. My friends and I absolutely loved the way the game looked – it made them feel like they’re watching an interactive cartoon version of the WWF. There were no missing sprites or slowed down animations. Everything ran smooth as butta’. The sound effects in RR were startling. I remember my cousin saying that the sounds didn’t sound too far off from a real WWF match.

WCW Video GamesUnfortunately, WCW video games weren’t a super huge hit in the 90s. I personally blame Doom and platformers like Sonic. WCW SuperBrawl Wrestling was pretty much it for the SNES and Genesis. Named after the pay-per-view, SuperBrawl bordered on mediocre. Don’t get me wrong, the graphics weren’t too shabby. What bothered me most was the overhead perspective. The perspective was similar to the vastly superior Super Fire Pro Wrestler. But, the controls were pretty crappy compared to the latter game. And, I just couldn’t go gel with such a slow paced game after playing the faster WWF RR. Each wrestler had the same shared moves except for their signature attacks (which really limited the options) – moves included a variety of kicks, diving attacks, an atomic drop, tombstone piledrivers, suplexes, punches, and elbow shots. Again, RR had tons of unique moves depending on your choice of wrestler. Not the case here.

To its credit, the game included some cool modes such as single play, tag team, four team tournaments, and the Ultimate Challenge (where players were tasked with defeating every wrestler in the game’s roster). You also hear commentary from Tony Schiavone. The ‘commentary’ is basic, but at least it’s there.

I personally agree with these WCW video games critics. It offered tons of features, but I just couldn’t overlook the poor controls, sub-par animations, and outright bad gameplay. It was incredibly hard, and sometimes downright impossible to line-up a wrestler perfectly and perform a move. WCW committed the ultimate sin in video games: it wasn’t fun to play. If you want to see the game in action, you can check out some brief game play here.

WWF Games

WWF Raw stands as one of the best wrestling video games made in this era.

It was time for WWF games to return to the limelight with WWF Royal Rumble’s sequel: WWF Raw – this game was the last one in LJN’s 16-bit WWF trilogy. Players enjoyed One-on-One matches, Tag Team, Bedlam, Survivor Series, Royal Rumble, or Raw Endurance Matches which were really awesome. The thing that differentiates Raw from other games of the time is the fact that they didn’t sacrifice game play for graphics. Some wrestlers had some shared moves. On the whole, wrestlers had different move sets including mega moves. For the first time, this wrestling game kept track of stats: speed, strength, stamina, and weight.

The player would win a game when his opponent’s energy was depleted. Once his energy was low enough, the wrestler could perform his or her (yes, this is one of the first WWF games to feature female wrestlers) signature move. More energy meant more damage to your enemy.

The thing that I really enjoyed most about WWF Raw is its finishing moves. They were based on the wrestler’s real-life unique moves, and it made the game feel more realistic. They needed to be performed in a specific position by punching in a button combination which was the same for every wrestler.

I loved it. Some people complained that Raw ran off of the same engine as Royal Rumble. But, I also happened to love RR when I first played it. So, my love for this game just made sense to my impressionable kid mind. It was more of the same awesome game! In my opinion, WWF Raw was the perfected version of Royal Rumble. I remember sinking countless hours into this game a kid. Awesome stuff! Check out some of the game play to see what you’ve been missing. This is the precursor to (or cusp of) the attitude era!

  • WWF Super Wrestlemania SNES – Carts are going for yard sale prices well under $10. Not very rare so the bargains abound!
  • WWF WrestleMania: The Arcade Game – Same as above. This version includes the aforementioned moves.
  • WWF Royal Rumble for SNES and Sega Genesis – The great thing about these licensed wrestling games is that they’re pretty common on eBay and cheap!
  • WCW SuperBrawl Wrestling SNES – Not at all rare. But, for whatever reason, these games tend to sell for about $10 more than the superior Royal Rumble. I hated it as a kid. Perhaps you’ll love it…
  • WWF Raw SNES Version / Sega Genesis / Gameboy / Game Gear – SNES is pretty common and sells about the same price as WCW. Ditto for Genesis. Graphics and game play are best on SNES version. Game Gear is a stunted version of the console game with two additional wrestlers. The Gameboy version is just terrible. Avoid unless you’re a collector or incredibly nostalgic. Gameboy version is becoming more rare but price remains low under $10.
  • WWF Rage in a Cage – Not too familiar with this Sega CD game. But, I’ve heard it’s one of the better WWF games for a Sega system at the time. I believe this is the first game to feature cage matches. Prices are pretty high (between $20 to $50).

A Look Back at the Rare Oddity that was the Sega Mega Jet

$

So in turn the Nomad’s graphical capabilities were on par with the 16-bit Mega Drive, while the Game Gear was essentially a portable Sega Master System.

For collectors of rare video came console units or vintage Sega merchandise the Sega Mega Jet portable video game console is not only a hard find but a sought after piece of videogame history. Outside of the United States it is very unlikely that you’ll come across one.

  • Musha – A used untested copy just sold last week for $300, and another CIB sold for $400 a week prior to that! The average price for a CIB currently is $408.68. M.U.S.H.A. is a rare treat for genesis collectors.
  • Crusader of Centy – Back in September this game (without the box/cartridge only) went for $175! Another listing with the box, cartridge, and no manual sold for $237.50 a few days ago. And get this – a NIB listing is currently asking for $15,999.99! The current average value for the cart only is $212.50. Some claim this is one of THE more rare games on the genesis.
  • The Punisher – a CIB listing recently sold for $149.95, but cartridge only listings are selling for anywhere between $45-70. The average going rate for this game CIB is $149.95.
  • Master of Monsters – a CIB fetched $85.00 two months ago. Current average cost is $220.00 although bargains certainly exist.
  • Joshua Battle for Jericho – CIB listings are EXTREMELY hard to find.
  • Zero the Kamikaze Squirrel – a NIB listing sold for $110 two months ago. Listings that were CIB have sold for anywhere between $67 and $102 in the same time span. Currently a NIB listing is up for $300. Average cost for the game is $85. You can get a solid deal on a cart only listing (around $20ish range).
  • Aerobiz Supersonic – this is another game that is kind of all over the place. Since September a CIB game has gone for $25.27 and $67.81. A NIB listing for this game is incredibly difficult to come by. But, by and large, this game IS NOT rare at all. Just unusually expensive for some reason not known to me.
  • Michael Jackson’s Moonwalker – CIB has sold for between $49.00 and $78.80 in recent months. This is another title that will be hard to come by factory sealed. Average price is $41. Like Aerobiz, Moonwalker is not rare at all. Just expensive.
  • John Madden Football ’93 Championship Edition – This game was never sold to the public but instead was a video rental store exclusive. Due to the nature of its retail history finding a CIB copy is tough to come by and a NIB is unheard of. In October of this year a CIB sold for $99.99.
  • Action 52 – Quite possibly one of THE WORST GAMES on the Genesis. That doesn’t stop collectors though.

Hey, guys. Link here. It’s been awhile since I’ve run a post. I hope everyone here is doing well. Ebay user daesan reached out to us recently about his rare Sega listings. The star of his listings are, of course, these one of a kind Vectorman sketches from the game’s original animator, Ellis Goodson.

Goodson sold these Vectorman video game concept art sketches to the ebay user in 2013. You’ll see a date of the signature next to the animator’s sig. According to the seller, this artwork actually dates back to the mid 90’s during the first game’s development.

The first sketch has concept designs for Vectorman’s helmet.  The second displays an idea for an attack.  The sketches aren’t quite mint (as usually happens to these sorts of items). They have minor wrinkles.

You can bid on the sketches here. So far, no bidders and the price is still around $40.

Many people felt that Vectorman was Sega’s answer to Nintendo’s Donkey Kong Country. The game used state of the art pre-rendered 3D models. In particular, GamePro felt that this game absolutely pushed the limitations of 16 bit games completely over the edge.

This Undiscovered Blockbuster Video Game Championship Collection May End With Thousands Of Bids

*Ed Note 2: Can’t Believe I’m typing this but the listing was relisted (AGAIN) at $2,499 here

In honor of this, I’ll list additional Sega and NES finds:
